Celebrating Saint Elizabeth of Hungary in Kassa/Košice
Kassa/Košice, 14-16 November 2025. The Hungarian Association of Knights of Malta and the Hungarian Delegation of the Johanniter Order accepted once again the invitation of Zoltán Pásztor, Vicar General of Košice and Chaplain of the Order of Malta, to celebrate the feast day of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary, of the House of Árpád, patron saint of the cathedral, together with local Catholics.

The daughter of King Béla IV of Hungary had a special love for the poor and the disadvantaged, which is why she is so important to followers of the Order's spirituality. At the same time, her veneration unites all those who look up to her as an example and seek her intercession, transcending borders and languages.

The members of the nearly thirty-strong delegation, which included two Johanniter Knights, attended the solemn Hungarian-language Holy Mass, celebrated by Archbishop Csaba Ternyák of Eger (Hungary), and concelebrated by Archbishop Bernard Bober of Košice and, among others, FatherTamás Tóth Ch.C.H.. In his sermon, Archbishop Ternyák pointed out that our shared veneration of Saint Elizabeth of Hungary can help us to deepen the friendship between our peoples.

We are grateful to our brothers and sisters in Košice who welcomed us and treated us with special love, following the example of Saint Elizabeth. Thank you for the rich program, the photo exhibition, the lecture, and the wonderful concerts.
