Maltacamp 2024
Fiesch (Valais Canton, Switzerland), 11-18 August. The Hungarian team - six wheelchair users, four other disabled people and eleven young companions, under the leadership of Cecilia Lang and Loránd Erőss Jr.- returned from Maltacamp 2024 refreshed and full of enthusiasm.
Extracts from their report:
"First of all, we would like to thank you on behalf of the team for the opportunity to go to the International Camp in Switzerland again this year. For us it is the most wonderful week every year, and this was sincerely stated by all participants.
This year's camp in Switzerland was a highly organised week, which took into account the needs of the participants at the highest level. There were both on-site and off-site activities, many sports and activities, as well as sightseeing in Sion, and smaller group activities such as rafting, glacier watching, etc. In addition, as every year, there was a strong emphasis on spirituality: three Holy Masses and perhaps the most profound and moving evening of the week, Silent Night.
The team was almost the same as the last three years. We have to say that the organisers express themselves very positively about the Hungarian team, every year. They praise our cheerfulness, our unbridled energy and our relationship with the guests. It is worth mentioning, as chaperones, that it is also thanks to our guests that the camp went so well, because they always urged us to have fun, and were supportive when we needed to relax or have a little freedom."
The Hungarian team's trip was funded by the Association of Hungarian Knights of Malta, mainly from the proceeds of the 2024 St John's Ball, and with the help of the Delegation for German-speaking territories, which has been supporting this event for 30 years.
