Order of Malta

 

In the summer of 2022, an acquaintance contacted us. The father had had a spinal cord infarction at the age of 45. He was paralyzed from the navel down, with no movement or sensation in his legs, waist, or trunk muscles. He had been trained for life in a wheelchair. But the doctors were recommending a standing wheelchair (one that allows the user to raise the chair from a seated to a standing position and back), which would be extremely important for maintaining the condition of the bones, blood circulation, internal organs and digestion. The family looked in several places, but there were practically none for sale or rent in the country, and it would have cost more than HUF 1 million to buy one from abroad. The family was unable to manage this, as they still need the support of friends and family for many other needs.

 

I remembered that a few months earlier we had received a strange wheelchair from Teesdorf from a company called HOBI, the complications of which we hadn't worked out properly. Well, we examined it, put a battery in it, cleaned it, tested it. It was a standing wheelchair! Woohoo – I say, this is what we need! I immediately called the family and told them that we could solve their problem. The next day I took it out to their apartment and we tried it out. It was an indescribable feeling. The two parents were crying, the 7-year-old girl looked at her father with her mouth open as he "sat down and stood up" several times.

 

I then said that I had brought something else, too. A bathtub lift, because I knew they lived in a modest panel house and the wife has to lift her husband into the bathtub. One wrong move and she, too, could be in serious trouble. I put the lift in the bathtub, showed them how to use it, and we tested it with clothes on to see if it worked well in the tight space. It worked!

 

That night I went to bed with a very happy feeling, grateful to God that we were able to provide the family with such serious help. It's amazing how Providence works. I received an item last spring and I did not even know what it was capable of. They contact me with this problem; I am reminded of the strange item; and bingo! I have never won the Lottery except for two minor prizes, but God often gives me such miracles as this one was! Thank you!!!
