The MMLSZ Fund

God leads, steers, shows the way...

It is often not easy to decide which of the many requests to undertake.

The case of the B. family began when, over a period of time, a completely unknown lady kept transferring small and large sums to the Foundation, noting the purpose partly as a donation for the purposes of the Foundation, and partly - for a wide variety of Mass intentions! I besieged the bank for the donor's contact information, because the Foundation cannot fulfill the purposes indicated. They refused, citing banking secrecy. In the end, I returned HUF 15,000 back to the donor giving my phone number in the notification section, with the request to call me. The lady called me two days later. It turned out that she was acting on behalf of her  sick sistere. We parted after a pleasant conversation.

She called me again at the beginning of October. A very nice family with three children lives opposite her. The father is chronically ill, the mother lost her job, they could not pay the water bill and they had the water cut off. She is currently providing them with water, but this will not be possible in the winter, could I help?

Given the positive history, the Foundation decided to help. We transferred the necessary amount, and the next day they called to say that there was water again, and that the family was very happy.

Ten days later, the mother of the three children called desperately from the bank branch in Szombathely: the Bank was repossessing their property, bought thanks to a State subsidy, because they had not paid the installments. Her husband is sick, she is still looking for work. A quick decision was needed here. I quickly spoke with the clerk, and agreed on an amount that would allow me to delay the repossessing of the house by a few days. The Foundation agreed that we settle the entire arrears plus one monthly installment, as long as we have some assurance that they will be able to pay further installments. The mother was constantly looking for a job, she had had several interviews, and it was clear that she really wanted to work. I called one of our confreres who had good local connections: could he help? Yes! He knew the necessary people. Three days later, the mother sent a copy of her employment contract, confirming that they would be able to pay the monthly installments.

On October 25, I received the following email:

Dear Knights of Malta Foundation!

I would like to say thank you on behalf of my family and myself!!! Thank you for supporting us in this difficult situation!!! After all, we would have lost everything without you! Even if we addressed you with all the kind words in the world, we would still fall short, because there can never be enough words to thank you.

Thank you: B.
