Conference of Presidents of Associations held in Budapest

The Presidents of national associations of the Order of Malta met in Hungary to prepare for the Chapter General to be held in May. The main objective of the meeting was to choose the 15 Presidents who, in accordance with the Constitution, will represent national associations at the meeting of the Chapter General. Two members of the Governing Council, Grand Chancellor Albrecht Freiherr von Boeselager and Receiver of the Common Treasure Count János Esterházy, were also present at the meeting.

On the day before the meeting, the participants visited the House of Acceptance, where Miklós Vecsei, vice-president of the Hungarian Charity Service of the Order, gave them an overview of the history and activities of the Charity Service. The meeting itself took place in the main conference hall of the parish centre of Our Lady of Buda Castle, preceded by an English-language Mass in the crypt of Matthias Church. On Sunday, the guests and members of the Hungarian Association, wearing church robes, attended the 10 o'clock solemn musical Mass in Matthias Church, at which the orchestra and choir of the church performed Mozart's Coronation Mass.
